Neal Schmitt Interesting stuff here. The interview and voiceover is very, very quiet (or the music is a bit too loud). It's hard to hear everything Mr. Rivera is saying. I like the rap part but again, it steps on the voiceover and I can't figure out which one to listen to. The opening hook was nice and the music fit perfectly. What a story about his finger. Yikes! that's hard to listen to.over 3 years ago

terencerobertson fantastic job on drums. I think you added a little bit too much reverb on the vocals though or maybe just the wrong kind. All the vocals sound really far away. You did an excellent job with the eq on the piano. It should've been a little louder when there weren't any vocals though. Nice artistic judgment by taking out all of the other instruments during the break down such as the ebow. You really came into your own with this one but next time just watch out for how you mix your vocals.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Angel – The intro sounds amazing. Great use of panning. When the drums and bass come in, the songs sounds very pro. When the vocals come in, the buried in reverb. My guess is there’s a dverb plug in on the vox bus. This song is tough to juggle (and automatin a real necessity) cos sometimes there’s four vocals going and other times it’s just a single vocal. Regardless, the lead vox, in whatever incarnation you use, needs to sit at the same level in the song. Does that make sense? So, use automation to make the single vocal louder and automation to lower the group vox. When the vocals are there, the piano hook is the melody and needs to sit at the appropriate volume of the main melody – so the vocal disappear; the piano appears at the same volume. This one everyone missed – the messy drums during the backwards piano fill – there’s an obvious edit with cymbal bleed. That was a mistake in tracking. That can’t stay – yuck. The deep bass seems to sit at nice level . The drums are a bit polite behind the bass but I think that’s ok. The back-and-forth guitar solos seem very low. Again, if there are not vocals, something needs to take the place of the melody. I’m missing all of the ending vocals. The end guitar solo seems a bit louder. They cymbals are very splashy at the end. Automation would help you lower those for just the ending.over 3 years ago

Neal Schmitt You've got a nice sound on the acoustic but many of the other levels seem out of place. The vocals have way to much reverb on them. The snare drum is present but the kick drum (except when it gets loud) and the bass guitar are absent. Those two instruments are the foundation of the rhythm section and essential for a song to have a groove. use panning to make the song wide. I know there's not a ton of instruments, but think in three dimentsions. Reverb for depth, panning for width and song arrangement/tone for height.over 3 years ago
