Neal Schmitt Better. It sounds much less forced. There are still some volume issues between your narration and her voice. I like the music choices - Did you mean to leave the end of the Nirvana song in?about 3 years ago

Neal Schmitt Pretty solid mix. The guitar is nice and loud and really cuts through, which I like. I wish the kick and snare cut through more. they seem really in the back. The drum sound is mostly cymbals. This genre is about huge kick and snare sounds and less about the room sound. The vocals seem in a good spot too. Sorta growly and just kinda intelligible - just like they should be. Hitting the compressor a bit harder would give them even more snarl - maybe even just a bit of distortion - just a bit - to make them nastier. There's a big space about 1:40 into the song - where's the shredding guitar solo?over 3 years ago

RobinGraves123 Hi Kevin- I like your mix a lot. A couple minor things: You might not want to have the lead vocal panned so hard to the left just because hearing it through headphones, he sounds like he is standing on the far left side of the room. And during the first chorus, his vocals get a little buried under all of the instruments. Other than that, I thought it was really good.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Kevin – cool reverb on the opening vocal I love the wide panning! Would have been cool – when the bands kicked in – the make the lead vocal in the center – tie everything together. The vocals at times are too loud, other times too quiet – use automation to keep the vocals at a consistent level above the music. Listen to any pro song and you’ll notice the relationship of the vocals is usually consistent. Try to replicate that. The background vocals at the end are real quiet. The organ is sometime too loud as well. Except for the solo – there it needs to be loud and yours is sitting perfect.over 3 years ago

BrotherWilliam Drums seem like they are a little in the back and the vocals and piano are fighting too much. The bass could probably stand to come up, but the guitars are right about where they should be. I do like the " hi/lo keez" though and that interlude section.over 3 years ago
terencerobertson Right from the beginning i noticed that the drums really aren't standing out. I can't hear the kick my brother! The vocals are there and they sound rather clear. I love them. The piano may be a bit to loud as well. The panning on the backgrounds was good as well. The overall mix was good but just watch out with the lows, you might lose your kick. p.s. watch out with that delay too, the echo seemed a little off.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Kevin I’m with you that the piano is a central part of this song but I think your EQ and volume have made the piano drown out other parts of the song. The drums are too quiet IMHO> The rhythm section is need to rock out the song. All I really hear are cymbals. What mode of playback are you using to do your mixes? This sounds like headphones to me. The volumes you’ve chosen don’t transfer very well to speakers. After you’ve made what you think is your mix, it is important to listen to your mix in as many different scenarios as possible – each system will tell you something different. Take all of that info and try to compromise. For instance, some stereos will have the kick real loud, maybe another has it a bit too quiet. The kick E!, compression and volume should work together to make it about the same volume in each system with too much disparity.over 3 years ago

terencerobertson from the beginning I noticed that the vocals are really low. In certain sections the backgrounds are louder than the lead vocals. The drums sound pretty good however and the guitars are definitely in the front of your mix. The bass is exactly how its supposed to be as well. its barely there. The reverb on some of the vocals are a little much in some parts and you can tell how quiet the vocals are because of it. Next time you should hold back on the reverb and make the vocals a little more present with a mix like this.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Kevin That some crazy compression you’ve got on the drums. The cymbals are pumping like crazy. The intro punch really hits well. I like that you’ve got the guitars panned wide. They seem louder than anything else though. The drums and bass need to connect to make the mix big. Otherwise, it’s big loud guitars without any context. I like the thick guitars could use some EQ to clean and clarify. I’m wondering what you’re a/B song was? IN the intro, you’ve got the low harmony as the lead vox. When it drops out, the lead vox gets buried. The snare has a lot of room/reverb and gets a little lost in the mix. It sounds like a rack tom. The kick needs a little cleaning up to really cut through. The bass is a t a good volume as to support the drums. The noisy bridge guitar is lost in the shuffle, that part should be raging loud! I like the volume of the background vox but they sound very mono. Pan them wide to encircle the lead vox.over 3 years ago

Neal Schmitt kevin Pretty good mix going on here. However, the bass and strings are too loud. The both are very powerful in their frequency range and drown out a lot of other sounds. The lead vox is sitting at a pretty good level. Obviously that's super important. You missed one of the snare fixes early on(right after the vox starts) . And what about the end? you didn't even try.] The electric piano is at a pretty good level. I'd like to hear more of the background vox. They're pretty quiet. Turning them up and panning them around the lead vox would add depth and width to the mix. I don[t The snare's at a good level too. Your bounce included some dead air at the head and a lot of dead air at the tail. Use the selector tool to grab just the part you want to bounce and excluding areas you don't 12/15over 3 years ago
