Neal Schmitt Neat piece. I had to listen to it 4 or 5 times to have it gel. I like the big sweeping whole notes and odd drum beat that hang and hang and hang and then the drums pick it up. Very cool. Then comes in that weird distorted sound that sorta sounds like someone breathing. The deconstructed ending is cool, too!

Neal Schmitt I'm a big fan of tremolo, so I dig that one big tremolo moment. cool experimentation with the DI guitar Nice and groovy bass line I thought you did a great job incorporating Jeff's drum track. Once the keyboard comes, the mix seems to get thrown off a bit - the drums get drown out. cool tune though.

Neal Schmitt I never, ever ever am a fan of DI acoustic guitar. Nope. I don't like it. Now about the song. the keyboard part that comes in a :38 doesn't sit so well with everything. Blending acoustic and electronic stuff is hard. That sound is so obviously a keyboard, you have to work hard to have it blend and gel. then what happens at the end - it just stops? These piece is um…not finished? I don't mean to be harsh but I calls them as I see them.

Neal Schmitt Interesting story. Your music choices are appropriate. The music might just be a tad loud but it's not obtrusive. It's great how the music cuts out when you switch to the time travel database. Your narration is pretty good. There's a few hiccups in the narration that could have been smoothed out. When you're reading verbatim from another source, you'll use the words "quote" and "un-quote" at the end. Yourconclusion is a great way to tie it all together.

NickBoFoSho I dig the intro guitar and panning whateverthehell that as. The piano sounds like it's got some brilliant reverb tagging along, prime time stuff for a "The Fray" like radio hit. The low harmonies panned way out make me uncomfortable. It literally tickles my ears. Stop it. I like how you used the xylophone because I couldn't get mine to sound right so I just ditched it. I really dig how the guitars are talking to each other in that little solo before the break down solo. The vox guitar sounds nuts. like an alien talking under water. The ending is epic. Good job buddy.

Walter Really great mix man! Thought the drums sounded fantastic, and loved the reverb on the vocals. Also amazingly tasteful delays on the nows, overall I couldnt find any problems with the mix. Really good job man keep it up!

Neal Schmitt Kyle Cool intro. Way to use your noggin. That’s a really creative way to start the song. IThe bass could have been taken out all the way even. It sounds cool. Your opening music bed sounds great. The kick drum is a bit thumpy but consistent. The bass guitar is deep and tucked under and around everything else is a great way. The acoustic gets lots a bit. The electric There are times when the piano is where it needs to be. But there are other times when it’s tucked too far into the mix. Cool tremelo effect on the xylophone. Sounds sparkly A few of the delays are a bit too loud for my taste. That’s me, though. The vocals, for the most part, sit in a good spot just above the music. There are some lines, especially when the high harmony is not there, that the vocals are a bi buried or lose their presence. Watch for that – if there are vocals, most listeners expect to be able to understand and don’t want to “hunting” for the vocals They need to sit in a predictable space. You nailed the middle part by eliminating the stick clicks. Great job! The ending pours it on doesn’t it? That’s where you need to opll elements out to make room for what’s important. Three melodies and the piano sounds like to much doesn’t it? When we tracked, we weren’t sure what we wanted to do at the ending – so those are all of our options. Be judicious – use only what you need to get the point across. The cymbals get splashy at the end - automation would have helped you pull those down.

jeff.welch Not too bad man, definitely has a "big" sound to it because of your use of EQ on the drums and reverb on the vocals. However, how you got the kick sound probably isn't the best way to do it. Boosting everything will yield results, but thats also making everything including the unwanted frequencies louder, along with clipping it in this case. Same with the bass guitar. It didn't have a lot of low frequency punching out in this case, but the same frequencies are boosted both on the kick drum and bass guitar. Pulling down the kick where the low end punch of the bass sits would have helped bring out the bass guitar more. I like the effects, reverb adds a nice touch to everything, especially the snare and vocals. Guitars sound pretty good but the acoustics have the EQ issue again not letting them be prominent. Use of compression on everything including the techniques we talked about could have brought things up a bit more.

NickBoFoSho Sweet vocal effects, the only problem is I cant understand her at all. The drums (particularly the bass drum) sound huge and powerful. The bass as well, is at work with the drums driving the song. The guitar is sitting nice in the middle. Good work.

Neal Schmitt Kyle summetime Wow – you’’ve got the drums pumping. The compression seems pretty good. The kick is maybe a bit too loud. The reverb on the snare is expansive but tasteful. The cymbals seem at a nice place – not too bright. The bass guitar is a bit elusive. I know it’s not played really well, so tucking it in the mix might be a good idea. The acoustic, after the intro, gets lost in the shuffle. The clean electric cuts through. Balance the two guitars - use compression and EQ to give two very different sounds equal weight. – then pan them wide to give your mix width The vox sound great! A lot of compression but it keep that voice right where you want it. I think overall, his voice is a bit too loud, but that’s easily fixed. The piano bridge is a little tucked in. When there’s no vox, what do you want the listener focused? Once you determine that, make that sound special. Great mix!

jeff.welch Everything sounds good through my headphones, I like where the vocals are sitting in the mix. The low end from the bass feels great too. Is the acoustic panned though? Only reason I would stay away from that is because its the driving force and when the song starts, you just hear it mainly out of one side. Everything sounds good though, nothing jumps out and grabs you unintentionally.

Walter Really Enjoyed the mix, really great balance i n the vocals, the bass sat well as well as the guitars. I would have just added a little more reverb on the acoustic guitars. The vocals as well need just a little more editing but besides that its an amazing mix. I also enjoyed the drums alot nice subtle reverb very tight man loved it haha

Reiko11 your mix sounded real good. everything set well, nothing was over powering anything else. the only thing that i found was that you didnt add reverb to your vocals. a little reverb would have blended the vocals better. nevertheless i enjoyed your mix

Neal Schmitt Kyle Your verses sound like a record, not a student project. I like the guitar a little louder. Some of the other guitar sounds get lost.I wouldn't mind a touch more reverb but it sounds sweet. The bass and kick really compliment each other. And they're at the perfect volume. Sounds great in my car! The snare seems just a bit too loud. Cool arrangement choice at the end (and btw, which you nailed the edit!) The tambourine seems at a good volume. Is it panned in the middle? Open that up for width interest. the mark tree sound may just be a bit too loud. I'm debating whether I want the strings a bit louder. I like them at that volume in the choruses though. The ending vocal seems a bit too loud. Near clipping maybe. Really solid effort for a first mix. 14/15
