A Nate Chambers song recorded on a Sunday in December. A song about missing someone. This is unmixed and the audio is very raw but the song is still worth listening to.
C. W. Wolf Nice. Funny I was going to post a piece with the same title until I saw this there. Mine is Reckless in content with a whistle and a dulcimer though. Thanks for sharing.over 3 years ago

The first stairwell jam went so good we had more, this one was Knockn' on Heaven's Door. Again this was with a field recorder so the voice is very low and there is no mixing.

This is an early recording of Nate, Gabe and me playing in the stairwell at the Dorms. It just started as a jam session and this arrangement of Landslide came out. This was recorded with a field recorder so the quality is not that great.

jeff It sounds a bit muffled, but that could be my headphones. The kick could be better, sounds a little like a basket ball. The harmonica is great though and the lead sounds good.about 4 years ago

music2kelly Yeah, I've been trying to work with the kick but I might just have to replace it.about 4 years ago
Neal Schmitt first - there's some performance issues that needs to be ironed out. Not a lot - but a few *ahem mistakes . Drums around :56 as an example. copy/paste that beat from where it was played well. I think everything needs a ton of compression. Acoustics, bass, drums (esp. the snare and kick). I liked the double tracked acoustic guitar but they're not really double tracked - it's more like two performances. Maybe you could bring one in to increase the dynamics, rather then them both playing the whole time. There's not enough effects - some reverb would really help. Don't drown anything in reverb but just add some polish. The harmonic, besides needing reverb and compression - seems really loud when it comes in. Notice I haven't said anything about EQ - (excpet for the kick but you already knew that - for the kick, you're going to need to add some phatness - add a bit of 50hz-70hz, add a bit of 125hz and find the attack area and pull that down, maybe around 1.25khz, maybe highter) The electric guitar sounds great, cymbals are clear, acoustic are natural sounding and bass - well it's pingy but it's slap bass, so it'll sound that way. Here's what I'd do - Pull the room mics down on the drums. Get the kick and snare sounding great. Heavily compress the bass and get that rhythm section happening. Add the acoustic - maybe pick and choose when they're both playing. Balance the electric with the harmonica, picking and choosing which one is the focus. Or I could be totally full of air and have no idea what I'm talking about. ha!about 4 years ago

A podcast about overcoming adversary for capstone. a story worth listening to.
Neal Schmitt I think everything was said in class but I wanted to reiterate what a moving piece this in. The changes you made were intelligent, insightful and really created a very strong and powerful work. Your music choices add quite a bit as well.about 4 years ago

One Minute song for capstone. This might be the best one yet....maybe. It was created in ProTools and Reason
Neal Schmitt Several years ago, we went to a CSO Halloween show. In addition to Harry Potter themes and other lighthearted "scary" themes, the orchestra played the violin song from Psycho. It was short but great. The violin is going to automatically draw comparisons but other than the sound - this piece is so different and I think that's great. I mean, you say "scary" and "violin" in the same sentence and that's where my mind automatically jumps to - but this piece is both scary and it's own. nice More piano - I think you said there was supposed to be a few more piano hits. I want to hear a few more! I like this a lot.about 4 years ago

One minute song for capstone.... created last minute in ProTools and Reason. I hate the fact that the violin cuts off but it's a musician err and not the engineers
mschoenitz Creek and birds, violin and bells. Simple but very nice. Good work. It cuts off again :(about 4 years ago
Neal Schmitt This was definitely a project for you to highlight your skills. I'm glad you chose to play! Another layered string part would have been nice - whole notes underneath - something simple. there's definitely a calming sense going on towards the end, with the water and birds and violin sound - that sounds really nice. Oops - cut off again. What's happening? Add some silence to the end of your selection before you bounce to catch the decay of sounds.about 4 years ago

One minute song for capstone. Created in a flurry in ProTools and Reason
mschoenitz Groovy! I recognize something here... the piano. The track cut off though :(about 4 years ago
Neal Schmitt Overall, there's some cool things going on here but I'm not sure the mix is doing it justice. there are a couple of drum hits that are off - kinds throws the track off a bit. Turn up the drums when you want it to really grove. The scratches are really loud. The piano is nice - a bit more reverb maybe? or evena bit of delay. AWww - then it gets cut off. oops. this is a good start. Add some bass to really get it to groove, tighten up the drum programing and touch up the mix - a simple path to something very solid!about 4 years ago
