Mahalakshmi Shenoy Karkala - Hindustani Vocalist

Mahalakshmi Shenoy hailing from Karkala in the Udupi Dist of Karnataka is a Young Hindustani Vocalist a Disciple of Grammy Award Winner Mohan Veena Artist Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt of Jaipur and Pt. Ramarao Nayak of Goa.

Mahalakshmi has given over 500 Performances in last 10 years in many states of India and also given concerts abroad at DUBAI and GERMANY.

She has performed at Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, Varanasi;Saptak Music Festival, Ahmedabad(2012); Pt Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Samaroh, Panaji,GOA; Kal Ke Kalakar Sammelan & NCPA, Mumbai; Salt Lake Festival and Sutanati Parishat, KOLKATA; Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandighar, Sangeet Sankalp, Ahmedabad; Ustad Amir Khan Memorial Music Festival at Amritsar, Devnandan Ubhaykar National Youth Festival at Bangalore, Surmandal of Hyderabad; Gunjan of CALICUT, Kerala; Maharana Kumbh Parishat at Udaipur,Chittoghar and Jodpur(Rajasthan) , Jamnagar and Valsad(Gujarat), and in other cities like Gaya(Bihar); Zohrat in Assam, Haridwar in Uttaranchal, Indore and Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh. She has extensively performed in Karnataka.

Purity of Tone, Clarity of expression are her hallmarks. Her music has been liked by many musicians, music critics as well as by the common audience.

In addition to Classical Music she

also gives full Devotional songs
concerts in KANNADA, MARATHI, HINDI and KONKANI languages. She has composed Music for many devotional songs. Her two devotional songs Albums…. GURU GUNA GANA and EDDU BARO RANGA are very popular. Her Classical Music Aibum " ANAGHA" with Raag Madhuvanthi and Chandrakauns has been well appreciated.

She has " Surmani" Title from Sur Singar samsad, Mumbai(2007), National Award in Interuniversity National Youth Festival(2007), " Samskrithi Darshana " National Youth Artist Award( 2008), “Abhinav Kala Samman” ,Bhopal(2009) , " Young Achiever Award – 2010 from Rotary Club of Karkala , " Bhaktidhara" Title from Bhajanamrutha, Chennai and many more to her Credit.

In academics she is BA ( English Major, Journalism and Psychology) and MSW and MS in counselling and Psychotherapy from Kuvempu University.
