Me interviewing John Douglas about is business "Finger Splint."
kelpwilliams Nice dude! Had no clue about John and his splint!about 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Piece is informative and interesting. This wasn't so much a story as a Q& A but there were lots of great info - about the patent, the origins of the product, insurance rates, etc. That was all super interesting. Everything was recorded nice and clear. The music fit the mood. However, some diversity of the music would have been nice.about 3 years ago

Angel snare sounds good with the delay, bass fits well in the mix, guitars were the strongest part of the song, good panning, vocals had good flavor!over 3 years ago
KevinMcGinn the snare sounds very cool. the echo on the vocals are very good. the bass sounds upfront in the mix which works well for this song.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Terence The intro sounds amazing. Great use of panning. When the drums and bass come in, the songs sounds very pro. That part needs to “hit” and you got the hit. The delay on the snare makes it almost a remix! It’s so cool. The vocals are sitting on top of the music which is great. This song is hard cos sometimes there’s four vox, other times a single – compression and automation are helpful tools to wrangle the volume to where they need to sit. This is not a set it and leave it song. This one everyone missed – the messy drums during the backwards piano fill – there’s an obvious edit with cymbal bleed. That was a mistake in tracking. That can’t stay – yuck. Cool vocal delay accents. My favorite is the 2nd verse “ when it will Start” The high harmony comes in a bit loud for me. Our ears are cued for the higher sounds, so that harmony is effective a bit quieter. The ending is kind of confusing The cymbals are so splashy and loud that it’s burying the vocals. There needs to be a solid melody that a listerer can focus on. In this song, it’s usually back and forth between the piano and the vox. So whichever one is present, that needs to be the focus of the mix. All of those parts exist at the end but pick which one is the focus. There’s a significant volume boost in the second verse. Oops. The back-and-forth guitar solos seem very low. Again, if there are not vocals, something needs to take the place of the melody.over 3 years ago

RobinGraves123 Great mix, but the drums are a smidge too loud. They overpower the guitars. The harmonic vocal track is a little loud also. Otherwise, good job!over 3 years ago
KevinMcGinn I like how your vocals sound. They are very clear and the backing vocals are panned well. The drums sound awesome too. You can tell they are compressed but it is not overdone. The bass is sitting in the mix perfectly.over 3 years ago

Angel good mix. vocals were my favorite part. smooth transitions between louder and quiet sectionsover 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Terence Interesting reverb on the vocals. I kind of like it, it may be a bit too much but certain lines sounds really nice in it. This would be a case of using two tracks for the vox - one with a lot of reverb and the other with less. The snare drum is real loud but the kick drum is left behind. This is a taste thing but it is also a product of era. Listen to records from the 90s and the snare is real loud, in the 00s, it's the kick that's loud. If you turned the snare down, the whole mix might come together a bit more - the vocals wouldn't get so drowned out - give it a whirl. (but the acoustic may be too loud then - you'll find that this is a total dance, make one move and the whole mix gets knocked around liked stacked dominoes. In my car, what was missing is the bass guitar - that's the glue for the rhythm section and a source of rich low end frequencies. The acoustic sounds good - compression keeps it in place. A highpass filter though is necessary to eliminate some of the rumble. I think the electric gtr could use a bit of the vocal reverb. 12/15over 3 years ago

Take It Away (Mixed by Terence Robertson)

A song called "Take It Away" that I mixed.
TheLiberator INHO. i think that if you would have added a little more reverb to the lead vocals, and a little less on the background vocals it would make them sound more like the "No Ordinary Love" song by Sade, because the lead vocal seem to be more forceful and upfront and the background vocals seem really far away, although i will say that your mix and the Sade song do give me the same rhythm and jazz, laid back feel.over 3 years ago
kelpwilliams Dude, I'm loving the mix. You got a good balance going throughout the whole mix.over 3 years ago
RobinGraves123 I like this mix... very smoooooooth! I feel like I'm being seduced by the singer. Good Job!over 3 years ago
NickBoFoSho I like this way more than I like the way mine turned out. I'm listening to it on some really small and lame computer speakers and it sounds awesome. The lead guitar has some awesome reverb. Over all i'd say that it's the best of the best of the best, sir.over 3 years ago
Neal Schmitt Terence seems to be a bit of silence at the head: use your selection tool when you bounce to select the beginning and end, so that you don't have extra space either way. wow, that's some reverb on the guitar! Very interesting sir and I'm digging t! I don't think I've ever hear that. It sounds amazing in the bridge. I really think so. The reverb on the snare is slamming! Explosive and tight really helps pump up the energy, rather than the mellow mix it could be. I like where you've got the electric piano. The lead vocal seems about two notches above the music, while the back vox are nearly gone. The lead vocal shouldn't get lost in the music but it needs to be part of the music. At the end it gets crazy loud. At the volume I was listening to the rest of the song, from the second chorus on it almost hurt - her lead vox was soo loud. The bass and strings seem a bit too loud also. 12/15over 3 years ago
